My Book
The new book I want to write is going to be a saxophone techniques book. I want to write it on the art of multi-phonics. For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, multi-phonics is playing more than one note on the saxophone. It does not sound like a chord or played interval. It has an oscillating sound between the notes being played.
I’m discovering that this is a very untapped territory and many people have approached me because of my experience with it. I also want the book to appeal to composers too so that they may write saxophone parts that use different multi-phonics.

It May Come Soon
One of the things that I want to do before I die is buy a Macintosh. Well, it may be sooner than I thought. I may have found a buyer for my PC laptop (of which is 3 months old, mind you). If I sell my current laptop and my other dilapitated one, I will be able to buy a used Mac Book Pro. I’m excited. I can be rid of PC’s all together!

First Friends
I just visited the first set of friends in Michigan. I was goo to see them after moving to the other side of the country. Unfortunately I had to see them without my husband. Hopefully next time he can join me.
My next visit will be in Florida to see an old friend and two new ones!

Got through the first part
I’ve gotten through the first course of Spanish lessons. I got the Pimsleur CD’s from the library and completed Course A for beginners. Now, course B for beginners.
It’s strange. I can ask for something, say that I want to eat, count money, and all that jazz but I don’t know what the Spanish names for object are. If I want a toasted cheese sandwich, I can say “I want …” and that’s where it stops. So hopefully in the next few courses I can begin to identify the object around me. I have been trying to read signs that have both Spanish and English words to help identify things. It helps but it’s still frustrating.

Getting Going
I beginning to feel the joy of making fun of eBay and its customers by making animated videos. This one is pretty funny but vulgar. This may seem like an exaggeration but in reality is a combination of 3 or 4 customer complaints. Yes I’ve seen it all. As I come across more eBay stupidness, I plan on making more videos depicting the situation. I could make a mint off of it, HAHA!

Get the Stuff
I’m all set to beginning learning the guitar. I have a pretty good start on it. As a music teacher, I had no piano so I used a classical guitar to play chords behind the students as they sang. I don’t consider this being a seasoned guitarist though. I know I’m a hack player.
I bought a guitar techniques book to use with my electric guitar. The premise of it is to learn techniques of the guitar in 30 days. I can’t barely play the first one. My fingers don’t stretch that far. The author has me playing these oddly constructed chords with voicings that I never use as a horn player. Then I must flawlessly transition between each chord change without a squeak, break, or missed note. Yikes. I think this will be more like a 30 year workout at the rate I’m going.
Otherwise I have my equipment. A custom built classical guitar with brand new strings and a humidifier. Also Gibson Les Paul and a Rivera Knucklehead with a 4×10 Marshall cabinet. Good gear makes you a good player right? HA! I suck, but I’ll get there.
Day one lets tango for a fifth time!
